Ruth Olson is a certified Portrait Artist with more than 30 years of photo experience. Ruth, after graduating from Garden City High School, attended Winona International School of Professional Photography, Northwood University and Henry Ford Community College and has been a member of the PPA and DPPA since 1975.
Ruth is well-known in the Southeast Michigan area for her creative portraiture, keeping up to date with new technology, client demands, and always providing elegant, award-winning classic portraits. She has founded a studio based around a professional yet personable atmosphere, with satisfaction for customers generation after generation.
Vanessa has been with Ruth Olson Photography since 1994. She graduated from Plymouth Salem High School. Vanessa has a Bachelors degree of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from Wayne State University.
At the Studio, Vanessa's specialty is senior portraits, but you will also find her helpful in consulting with you to achieve the style of portrait desired and the final selections for your portrait order. Being with the studio for many years, she is very knowledgeable in most aspects of the studio, including photographing, ordering, sittings, etc.
Julia has been with Ruth Olson Photography since 2000. She graduated from Northville High School. Julia graduated from Washtenaw Community College with an A.A. in Photographic Technology.
At the Studio, Julia specializes in senior portraits. She aids individuals in choosing from a traditional to high fasion portrait, achieving the best fit for your personal style. She is also very helpful and experienced in selecting backgrounds that coordinate with your outfits. Additionally, Julia also manages yearbook pictures and is the head of brochure design.
Amber has been with Ruth Olson Photography since 2007. She graduated from Garden City High School. In the summer of 2011, Amber graduated from Wayne State University with a B.F.A. in Photography.
At the Studio, Amber photographs outdoor portraits for senior sessions, in addition to assisting the photographers during photoshoots. Amber also aids in the digital retouching process and is our yearbook manager.
Terry has been with Ruth Olson Photography since 2004. He graduated from John Glenn High School. Terry has a certificate in Media Production and attended Washtenaw Community College for Photographic Technology.
At the Studio, Terry's specialty is outdoor senior portraits, but he is very knowledgeable in many aspects of the studio, including photographing, retouching and consulting with your portrait order.
Kristen has been with Ruth Olson Photography since Summer of 2009. She graduated from Garden City High School, and is in college working towards her first degree.
At the Studio, Kristen assists the photographers in creating the best look possible by making sure each individual looks their best during the photoshoot.
Shirley & Clifford "Olie" Olson. The parents of Ruth, and a vital part of the backbone of the company. Her father, being the family photographer, had a major influence on Ruth's future by providing her with her very first camera. Something that would fuel her to start Ruth Olson Photography. And Shirley, since the companies founding, has been keeping the books tidy and accurate. Both have been by their daughters side from the very start.
